What a gorgeous day today! Temperatures in the mid 80’s and LOTS of bright sunshine. (Sharla & I both have sunburns to prove it! We did use sunscreen AFTER we noticed that we were starting to burn.)
We spent the whole day in Canyonlands, which is adjacent to Arches on the other side of the highway. What an unbelieveably gorgeous place! Lots of canyons and spires (and even a few arches!). We stopped at several viewpoints to take a look, then took a couple of hikes. The most interesting was to Aztec Butte, where some Puebloan Indians had built grain storage bins into the top of the butte. In addition to photos, I actually took a couple of short videos, which I will try to attach, so that y’all can see what kind of a hike it was! Very intense, with a few treks along narrow ledges with a 200 foot drop at our feet!
Just before dark we made it back to Moab for a “to go” dinner, and then hit the road for Cortez, Colorado. We are staying here two nights. Tomorrow we are going to tour the Mesa Verde Cliff Dwellings, and then Sunday we will attend the local Nazarene Church before heading across the desert to four corners and the Grand Canyon!
By the way, I continue to make slow progress on my cold, but I still have a very nasty cough, not much of a voice, and the cough is making it tough for both me and Sharla to sleep through the night. Keep praying!
Love to all,
Pastor Will & Sharla
