Well, today didn’t go as planned a few different times!
I took some of the prescribed medication, specifically a cough syrup that contains codeine. The problem is, I don’t usually take any kind of narcotic-type medication (or any kind, really), so when I do take them, they really hit me hard. I woke up and kind of sleep walked through breakfast, and then asked Sharla if she could drive. About every 10 minutes or so, I would just suddenly fall asleep for about 10 minutes, then wake up with a start!
As we approached Moab, intending to just hole up in the motel until I got the stuff worked through my system, I started to feel a LOT better, so, since it was too early to check into our motel, we decided to just drive through Arches and look at what we could see from the car. But we took a little walk around balanced rock, and before you know it, we were enroute to Delicate Arch, which is a “Moderate” walk, uphill both ways! Long story short, we both made it fine, as well as a mile and a half walk to see Landscape Arch in the north end of the park.
We are currently/finally holed up in Moab, and looking forward to a hot shower and bed. My cough has started up again, but I plan to take Nyquil instead of the big gun syrup and see if that works better. Tomorrow we are planning Canyonlands and some indian ruins, with our overnighter in Cortez, Colorado so that we can see the Mesa Verde Cliff Dwellings on Saturday.
Until tomorrow!
