Today I still felt pretty lousy (actually a bit lousier than yesterday), but I did get nearly a full night’s sleep! That helped.
Today Sharla and I toured around Salt Lake City. I lived here for 16 months 25 years ago, and a LOT has changed. But I was still able to find my way to a few important places to visit. We did the “memory lane” tour of one of the houses I lived in, drove by the capital, and then ate at a restaurant that I used to think was awesome. (It’s still pretty good!)
After a fairly late lunch, we drove out to the Great Salt Lake. Sharla had been there when she was much younger, and we’re pretty sure we found the place she remembered. After that we headed down to Provo (the home of BYU) for the night. On the way there I started getting chills and my fever was up quite a bit so, after we checked into the motel we took me to the local urgent care facility. They were very efficient and had us in and out in about 30 minutes. The diagnosis: It’s still a cold, but is showing signs of turning into a sinus infection. The doctor gave me a couple of prescriptions and we were out the door.
After a leisurely soak in the hot tub at the motel (purely theraputic for the sinuses, you understand), we are getting ready to bed down for the night. Tomorrow we are headed down to Moab, the gateway to Arches and Bryce Canyon. Don’t yet know if we will actually do the parks tomorrow or give me one more day to rest up before the big hikes. It’ll pretty much depend on how I feel when we get there.
Thanks everybody who’s praying. Keep it up! God is good!
